The East Dundee, Illinois Fire Protection District is accepting applications for the position of full-time firefighter/paramedic.

Salary: $67,046 to $83,552 with an excellent benefits package
Fire District Population: 10,000
Sworn Personnel: 30 full and part-time personnel

All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements established by the East Dundee Fire Protection District: 

  • U.S. citizenship and/or legal permanent resident of the United States;  
  • No felony convictions;
  • Valid state-issued driver's license;
  • Minimum of 21 years of age and not older than 35 years of age by the application deadline date (May 12, 2023)unless exempt as noted under state statute (65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.3);
  • Possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent;
  • Possess a valid Paramedic License (EMT-P) issued by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) (at time of hire);
  • Certification by the State Fire Marshal's office as a Basic Operations Firefighter (Firefighter II) (at time of application);
  • Provide a valid CPAT (Candidate Physical Ability Test Card) with Ladder Climb (at time of hire).

 

Preference Points will be awarded as determined by the East Dundee Fire Protection District for the following: 

  • Veteran - Applicants who served in the United States military actively for at least one (1) year and were honorably discharged will be awarded 5 points.
  • Education - Applicants who have successfully obtained an associate degree will receive two and a half (2.5) points or bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university may be awarded five (5) points.

  • Paramedic - Applicants who have obtained certification as an EMT-Paramedic by the time of the preference points deadline shall be awarded five (5) points.

  • Experience - Applicants employed by the District who have been paid-on-call or part-time for at least one year may be awarded five (5) points total. Applicants from outside the District who was employed as a full-time firefighter or firefighter/ paramedic for at least two (2) years at another Fire Protection District or municipality may be awarded one (1) point per year up to a maximum of five ( 5) points. 

 

Submission of Application:

Applications submitted online by Friday, May 12, 2023 at 4:00 PM (CST) will be accepted.  Faxed, e-mailed, mailed or dropped off applications will NOT be accepted.  Only one application per person, per testing cycle will be accepted. 

Written Examination Testing: Following completion of all application materials and review of minimum qualifications, successful applicants will be invited to participate in remote on-line written exam testing starting at 9 AM on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 through Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 4 PM.  The test will only be available during this time period.  Candidates will need to have access to a laptop or desktop computer.  All candidates will receive an email approximately one week prior regarding their status in the process, along with further instructions for taking the on-line written exam. NOTE: Please be sure to check your email spam folder. Many email account providers automatically send our emails there in error (i.e. Google, Yahoo, etc.).
