The Board of Police Commissioners of the Village of Plainfield, Illinois is accepting applications for the position of police officer with the Plainfield Police Department.
Salary: $75,347 - $123,953 (after 8 years), as of April 30, 2024
*Certified officers by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board may laterally enter at the wage schedule reflecting the officer's total years of service from another law enforcement agency, not to exceed four (4) years of creditable service. As of 4/30/24, these steps are as follows:
Step 1 - $82,992
Step 2 - $86,679
Step 3 - $90,970
Step 4 - $95,471

All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements established by the Village of Plainfield:
- U.S. Citizen or compliant with 55 ILCS 5/3-6033;
- No felony convictions;
- Valid state-issued driver's license;
- Possess a minimum of 60 credit hours from an accredited college, university, or junior college at time of appointment;
- Currently or previously been a full-time sworn officer of a regular police department in any municipality, county, university, or State law enforcement agency within the last two (2) years at time of application;
- Certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board;
- Possess substantially equivalent skills and abilities as a Village of Plainfield Police Officer who has completed the probationary period;
- Has taken and passed such examinations as the Commission deems necessary to determine fitness for duty as a police officer;
- The Village of Plainfield strongly discourages the employment of members of the immediate family of current elected officials and current employees of the Village. Final consideration is determined by the Village Administrator.
